It was such an honor to work with Macy and her family to design a session that showcases all the facets of who she is. We worked together to find the perfect looks that showcase Macy as an athlete and star on the soccer field as well as her poise and confidence as a young woman before our final look which was about capturing that carefree and playful Colorado girl that she is.
When I think back on what made Macy's session so successful and the final images so incredible I think it comes down to a couple things:
I think Macy stayed true to who she is and what she loves. There was no pretending or trying to be anything other than exactly who she is.
There was a strong level of trust that Macy put in me to guide her through different poses and to capture her in a way that was authentic.
We just had fun and went with the flow. We knew that the outcome was going to be great no matter what so we just went with it and had a blast.
For Macy's session we decided to showcase her love of soccer with a great athletic look, her feminine side with an incredible white dress and a mountain backdrop, and then a final stop for a more casual, everyday look at an iconic Colorado spot for the perfect ending at sunset.
Sports Photos - But Make Them Beautiful
By the time most athletes make it to their senior session they have had about 729 sports photo sessions. You know, those cute ones with missing teeth from when they were 7 all the way up through high school. So some athletes choose not to include their sport in their senior session and some decide to do it but with a little twist. For Macy, we knew we wanted to showcase a great athletic outfit but with her hair down and curled - a perfect mix of girly-girl and athlete. We worked together to create images that were a little different than what she had created at those sports sessions in the past and I love how these have that little different feel to them.
Classic White Dress and Mountain Location = Perfection
We changed out of the athletic look and into a beautiful white dress once we drove across town to the foothills outside of Fort Collins. The hiking trails were perfect for us to use to access the long grasses, blooming bushes, and the mountains in the background to create these beautiful images of Macy just being Macy!
At our next location we did two quick looks as we really wanted to make sure that we captured some images with Macy's letterman jacket. So with a quick change into her jeans and t-shirt, we added the jacket for some different images. It's important to me that we capture these important details in a session and its an easy way to make sure we have a great variety in the images from the session.
Wear What You Love - Allow YOU to Shine Through!
For Macy's final look, she wore a look that she loves and would wear to school. It's one that feels authentic to who she is and allowed for us to really showcase her personality as a finale to her session. As the sun was setting on a warm Colorado summer day, we soaked up those last rays and created these images full of Macy's charm and beauty.
